Artillery Mule

2001 Jaguar X-Type Sedan

Artillery Mule takes the early-2000s X-Type—normally a polished commuter with AWD manners—and repurposes it as an expedition aero study with a job to do: carry real weight, stay cool, and keep moving for 1000km of abuse. The silhouette is still unmistakably Jaguar sedan, but it’s wrapped in stealth composite “armor” that widens the track to a full 2000mm and turns the quarters into modular hardpoints for cargo, water, and recovery gear.

The build leans on believable upgrades instead of cosplay: taller ride height for clearance, load-rated suspension to stop it from wallowing under supplies, and an emphasis on durability and electrical headroom. It’s the kind of garage-built concept that makes sense in the real world—equal parts desert mule and industrial design exercise.

Aero Package

Flat utility hood panel with recessed tie-down loops and solar array mounting plane
Sealed underbody skid tray sections to smooth airflow and protect critical lines
Roof rack system with modular crossbars and low-profile wind deflector

Chassis

The build is staged on a remote desert mountain pass in harsh midday light, climbing through rocks with dust hanging in the air. It reads like a Speedhunters feature frame: functional stance, visible load, and a sedan shape doing work it was never meant to do.

Wheels & Tires

16x8 Method wheels for strength and serviceable off-road fitment
Continental TerrainContact A/T 275/65R16 for long-distance durability and mixed-surface grip
Full-size matching spare mounted externally for rapid access

Powertrain

Reinforced 3.0L V6 tuned for sustained torque delivery (~350Nm) and conservative EGTs
Upgraded intercooling and ducting for heat soak resistance at low speeds
Auxiliary alternator and expedition-grade power distribution for accessories

Fabrication Notes

Widebody hardpoints designed as bolt-on service modules for field repair and panel replacement
Quarter panel cargo mounts reinforced with internal bracing to spread load into the structure
Slider and skid interfaces built around repeatable mounting points for easy removal
