1969 Chevrolet Camaro

Series Sacred Cars
Category Show
Wave Wave 20

Urban ExoTank takes the sacred ’69 Camaro silhouette and reassigns it as a tight-city armored platform—more compact APC than boulevard bruiser. The body is pulled out +120mm per side into blunt, flat-faced bulges that read Brutalist under neon, but they’re engineered around a real track width target: 1920mm front and rear for stability when the streets get slick and the inputs get abrupt.

Instead of cosplay, the details do the work. Recessed ballistic polycarbonate windows sit under heavy arch lips, the hood becomes a ceramic-coated armored skin with an emergency escape hatch, and the rear is converted to vertically split double-doors with external quick-release hardware. It’s a show build with riot-control logic—built to look unbothered in rain, reflections, and hard light.

1969 Chevrolet Camaro

The 1969 Chevrolet Camaro stands as an iconic muscle car platform, blending aggressive yet timeless American performance with a raw, mechanical simplicity that defined an era. With its long hood, short deck proportions, and muscular stance, the '69 Camaro is a perfect canvas for both classic restorations and modern reinterpretations, offering a balance of vintage charm and structural robustness that enthusiasts continue to celebrate. Its straightforward chassis and well-balanced weight distribution make it a favorite among tuners and fabricators, preserving the authentic spirit of late-60s muscle cars while allowing for precise engineering and customization.

Aero Package

Integrated armored arch lips acting as tire shielding and debris deflection
Flat underbody panels with reinforced jacking points for curb-safe serviceability
Front bumper reinforcement beam with flush-mounted lighting apertures

Chassis

The widebody is engineered to land at 1920mm front and rear track, giving the Camaro a planted footprint without turning it into a parking-lot liability. Combined with a 25mm drop and hydraulic assist, it’s set up to change direction quickly in narrow streets while keeping the center of gravity and roll behavior in check.

Wheels & Tires

20x10" armored wheels with reinforced bead seats
Michelin XDR 345/40R20 run-flat tires for puncture tolerance and load capacity
High-temp pads and ducting provisions sized for repeated low-speed heavy braking

Powertrain

LS7-based V8 tuned to 550hp with conservative calibration for heat and idle time
Integrated electric torque-assist for low-speed silent approach and launch fill
Upgraded cooling stack (radiator, oil cooler, trans cooler) for stop-start duty
High-output alternator and auxiliary battery for lighting and hydraulic demand

Fabrication Notes

Welded/bonded panel extensions with stitch-weld strategy to manage distortion on long flats
Recessed window frames designed with replaceable polycarbonate inserts and captive fasteners
Rear door conversion uses boxed hinge pillars and latch reinforcement to prevent flex under load
Ceramic-coated hood and heat shielding around exhaust routing to protect adjacent armor skins
