Arctic Reaver

1969 Shelby GT350

Arctic Reaver takes the ’69 Shelby GT350 out of the concours bubble and drops it into the kind of winter stages that chew up modern cars. The wide-track stance isn’t cosplay: 120mm front and 150mm rear arch work is shaped around clearance, steering angle, and snow evacuation, with vertical venting to keep slush from packing the tires at full lock.

Underneath, it’s built like a period-correct rally conversion with modern restraint—raised ride height, real dampers, and protection where it matters. Matte Arctic white and reflective frost-striping read clean in flat light, while the skid plates, sealed ducting, and subtle aero tell you it’s meant to be driven hard when the temperature tries to take the car away from you.

1969 Shelby GT350

The 1969 Shelby GT350 is an iconic iteration of the American muscle classic, rooted in Ford's Mustang platform but dialed up with Shelby’s signature race-ready modifications. Featuring a robust 302 cubic inch V8 and a stiffened chassis, this model delivers a raw driving experience that bridges street muscle and racecar precision. Its long hood, short rear deck proportions and aggressive stance make it a canonical representation of late-60s pony car culture — a timeless foundation revered by enthusiasts and collectors worldwide.

Aero Package

Winter-focused front air management with ducting for radiator/intercooler
Flat undertray leading into skid protection to stabilize airflow over snow
Functional side skirts to reduce underbody snow ingestion
Subtle rear lip/ducktail tuned for stability without drag-heavy wings

Chassis

Raised and widened for real stage work—compliant spring rates, quality dampers, and adjustable anti-roll bars to tune balance as surfaces change from packed snow to glare ice. Protection and geometry matter as much as grip here, so the car stays stable under braking and doesn’t skate when the road crowns or ruts.

Wheels & Tires

17x8.5 front wheels with high-offset rally fitment for scrub radius control
17x9.5 rear wheels to match wide-track quarters and traction balance
Studded winter rally tires (narrower-than-you’d-think profile for bite on ice)
High-clearance brake package with winter-friendly pad compound

Powertrain

Small-block Ford-based build with conservative boost for cold-density torque
Front-mounted intercooler with short, protected charge routing
Heated radiator mats and thermostatic duct control for subzero stability
Rally-spec baffled oil pan and crankcase ventilation to handle long lateral load

Fabrication Notes

Arch widening tied into inner structure with stitch-welded seams and gusseting
Skid plates mounted to reinforced subframe points, not thin sheetmetal
Ducting designed with service access—quick removal for de-icing and repairs
Suspension pickup points checked and corrected for raised ride height geometry

Wave 36

Winter Warriors: Vol. 1

We took a bunch of rides most people wouldn’t dare to drag out onto frozen hellscapes and turned them into absolute beasts of Arctic rally warfare. Our builds don’t just survive the cold — they thrive in it, with widebody arches stretched wide enough to swallow studded tires that could chew through ice like butter.
