R028
The 2010 Honda CR-V Urban Hauler Beast reimagines the familiar compact SUV as a heavy-duty, urban mini hauler without sacrificing its recognizable silhouette. With front and rear tracks widened by up to 150mm and reinforced steel body panels replacing rear windows, this build transforms the CR-V’s rear into a functional cargo bed complete with fold-down sides and modular rack mounts. The stance is deliberately lowered yet reinforced with coilover suspension rated for a 1000kg payload, ensuring stability and clearance for city hauling demands. Under the vented steel hood, the stock 2.4L naturally aspirated engine receives a torque-focused ECU tune and upgraded transmission cooling to handle sustained heavy loads. The overall aesthetic blends industrial rawness with matte tactical finishes, emphasizing the CR-V’s new role as a gritty, confident workhorse ready for urban environments.
Blueprint // R028
Track width is substantially increased with 90mm added to the front and 150mm to the rear per side, yielding a stable 1750mm front and 1850mm rear track. This wide stance improves load stability and cornering confidence under heavy urban hauling conditions.
Widened front track by 90mm per side and rear track by 150mm per side
Replaced rear side windows with reinforced steel body panels and fold-down cargo bed sides
Squared and flared rear arches by 150mm with integrated ribbed stepways
Lowered stance with reinforced coilover suspension rated for 1000kg payload
Vented reinforced steel hood with central raised ridge
Small integrated RAM scoop for engine cooling
Reinforced rear bumper with tow hitch and integrated LED work lights
Aerodynamics take a back seat to function with a vented steel hood featuring a raised ridge and integrated RAM scoop to improve engine cooling under load. The rear eschews spoilers in favor of a reinforced bumper with integrated LED work lights and a tow hitch, emphasizing utility over form.
18-inch Steelcraft steel wheels, 18x8.5 ET-20
Yokohama Geolandar 265/60R18 heavy load-rated tires
Heavy-duty 18-inch Steelcraft steel wheels paired with Yokohama Geolandar 265/60R18 tires provide robust load capacity and durability. The choice of steel wheels complements the build’s industrial raw aesthetic while ensuring resilience against urban wear and tear.
The lowered stance features a front ride height of 170mm and a rear height of 200mm, optimized for urban clearance and payload handling. Reinforced coilover suspension supports the aggressive stance and heavy-duty functionality without sacrificing ride quality.
Stock 2.4L naturally aspirated engine with torque-focused ECU tuning
Upgraded transmission cooler for sustained heavy load endurance
The original 2.4L naturally aspirated inline-four engine remains, enhanced with an ECU tune that prioritizes torque to aid in heavy hauling. An upgraded transmission cooler ensures durability during extended load conditions, preserving reliability without compromising the CR-V’s dependable character.
The drivetrain retains its stock layout, supported by upgraded cooling to handle additional stress from payloads. Suspension is rebuilt with reinforced coilovers to accommodate a 1000kg payload while maintaining a lowered stance for urban maneuverability and clearance.
OEM integrated widebody panels maintain recognizable CR-V form
Steel cargo bed sides feature modular mounting points for accessories
Reinforced coilover suspension adapted for lowered ride height and payload
Custom rear arches squared and flared for cargo clearance and styling
