Story

Toro Veloce Initiative takes the “do not modify” 1940 Ford Super Deluxe Coupe and treats it like a clean-sheet exotic—without erasing what makes a ’40 Ford iconic. The roofline, greenhouse, and long-fastback attitude stay familiar, but every surface is re-cut into sharp, functional geometry: boxed fenders, hard creases, and a widebody that reads more Sant’Agata than Dearborn.

Under the skin, the romance ends and the math starts. The cabin shifts rearward, the engine moves behind the seats, and the cooling/aero package is built around real heat rejection and high-speed stability. It’s a pre-war silhouette engineered like a modern track weapon—wide track, big tire, active wing, and ducting that’s there because the brakes and charge temps demand it.

Technical dossier

Fictional engineering concept

Platform

1940 Ford Super Deluxe Coupe

Powertrain concept

Mid-mounted 5.2L DOHC V8 with twin turbochargers and air-to-water intercooling
Front radiator pack with dedicated ducting; brake cooling routed from fender vertical inlets
7-speed dual-clutch transaxle with paddle shift and rear-biased active AWD torque distribution
Thermal management prioritized: sealed shrouds, heat shielding, and venting paths to prevent soak

Aero package

130mm front splitter with twin dive planes set at 35° for front-end bite and balance
Triple NACA hood ducts feeding front radiator pack with controlled pressure recovery
Rear diffuser extending 200mm with multi-shelf channels and vertical fins to stabilize underbody flow
Triple-element active rear wing on swan-neck pylons positioned to sit in cleaner airflow above the deck

Chassis & stance

1940 Ford Super Deluxe Coupe

Wheels & tires

Front: 20x9 forged wheels with 285/30ZR20 Pirelli P Zero Corsa
Rear: 21x12 forged wheels with 335/30ZR21 Pirelli P Zero Corsa
Track increase: +230mm front / +270mm rear to match tire section width and suspension geometry
Ride height set ~85mm with adaptive magnetorheological damping for street-to-track compliance

Fabrication notes

Aluminum and carbon-composite body shell built around a reinforced chassis structure for mid-engine loads
Custom front and rear subframes to set track width, control arm pickup points, and transaxle mounting
Ducting is hard-lined and sealed (radiators, brakes, intercoolers) to prevent pressure bleed and recirculation
Service access planned: removable aero panels and rear clamshell-style engine cover for bay maintenance
