Shadowcourse Longtail takes the 2022 Santa Cruz and treats it like a wind-tunnel mule from the Group C era: covered wheels, a hard wedge nose, and a rear deck that just keeps going. The pickup profile is still readable in the cabin and beltline, but everything behind it is re-authored for low drag and calm high-speed behavior—wide track, longtail taper, and clean separation edges instead of visual noise.

The engineering story is simple and believable: move mass rearward, seal the underbody, and let the aero do the work. A front-mid powertrain shift, sidepod cooling, and a ground-effect-friendly ride height turn the Santa Cruz into an endurance-style study vehicle—more Mulsanne stability than street-truck theatrics, finished in satin graphite with exposed carbon where it matters.

Chassis

This is an aerodrome-runway weapon: long straights, crosswinds, and high-speed transitions where yaw stability and cooling consistency matter more than peak grip in a hairpin. The longtail and covered wheels are aimed at making the Santa Cruz feel calm past speeds where the stock body would start fighting the air.

Longtail Studies

I got bored of normal proportions, so we went full Group C on the stuff nobody asked for. Microcar cabrios, rally legends, a sensible BMW sedan, an actual Honda Element, a compact pickup, and a mid-engine MR2 all lined up in the shop with the same disease: wedge noses, covered wheels, and rear decks stretched like we’re trying to outrun the calendar.
