2017 Toyota RAV4

Yakuza Comet takes the most anonymous car-park hero of the 2010s and turns it into a full-volume Bosozoku-influenced demo rig without losing the silhouette that makes it instantly readable as a RAV4. The roofline stays, the doors stay, the proportions don’t—210 mm-per-side front and 230 mm-per-side rear stepped flares stack hard edges and negative channels like hand-formed sheetmetal armor.

It’s a show build engineered like it still has to bolt together twice. Track width, wheel clearance, cooling paths, and service access are treated as real constraints, so the chaos lands with intent: deep ducting, structured aero planes, and a stance package that can actually be aligned, driven onto a trailer, and aired out under lights.

The 2017 Toyota RAV4 marked a significant evolution in Toyota’s compact crossover lineup, combining rugged SUV capability with everyday practicality and reliability. Built on Toyota’s TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) GA-K platform, this RAV4 delivers a balanced chassis with sharp handling dynamics and improved structural rigidity. Its boxy yet aerodynamic design balances interior space optimization with modern styling cues, making it both a versatile family hauler and a capable partner for light off-road adventures.

230 mm forward-projected front bumper with stacked splitter plane, intermediate face, and upper intake shelf
Corner dive planes (~120 mm tall) and ducted hex grille openings feeding internal channels
Multi-tier rear diffuser (~340 mm deep) with six strakes and layered winglet shelves
High-mount dual-element roof wing (1750 mm span) on 920 mm swan-neck pylons with scalloped endplates

Chassis

This isn’t a lap-time RAV4—it’s built for night meets, parade crawls, and static display where the audience is close enough to read the metalwork. The aero is theatrical, but the stance, cooling paths, and mounting structure are treated as if the car still has to survive loading ramps and city streets.

Rays Engineering Volk TE37V forged: 20x11 +5 front, 20x12 +0 rear
Toyo Proxes R888R: 315/30ZR20 front, 335/30ZR20 rear
Target camber range: ~-4° front, ~-7° rear for show stance with adjustable correction
Air suspension with show-to-transport height range (~50–180 mm), aired-out target ~70/75 mm

Powertrain

OEM inline-4 retained with factory AWD architecture preserved for drivability and packaging sanity
Engine set back ~160 mm for improved front axle load and visual front-mid presentation
Cooling system upgraded with fender-fed side ducting and dual high-capacity radiator strategy
Exhaust rerouted to low-mounted side exits integrated into the skirt structure

Fabrication Notes

Widebody designed around repeatable stepped surfaces and flange returns for fastener or bonded mounting
Reinforced subframe pick-up and arm geometry considerations to manage widened track and scrub radius
Wing pylons tied into internal hatch/roof structure with load-spreading plates rather than skin mounting
Ducting modeled as sealed paths (bumper-to-coolers, diffuser side vents) to avoid “open hole” cosplay
