Mud Monster Dragbarge
2011 Volkswagen Jetta
R036
The 2010 Nissan Altima is transformed into a street-legal drag racing juggernaut, optimized for sub-10-second quarter mile runs. Featuring an extreme widebody architecture with massively expanded front and rear tracks, it balances aggressive aerodynamic elements with race-ready mechanical upgrades. This build combines raw power, precision engineering, and functional design to dominate the dragstrip while maintaining street legality.
Blueprint // R036
The front and rear tracks have been dramatically widened to 2000mm, a substantial increase over stock dimensions (+600mm front, +650mm rear). This aggressive stance enhances stability and grip during high-speed runs, while the minimal arch height (100mm rise) ensures a low center of gravity and aerodynamic efficiency.
Extreme widebody conversion pushing front and rear tracks to 2000mm.
Arch flares sculpted with forward-facing aerodynamic fins.
Carbon fiber cowl hood with integrated NACA scoop for supercharger ram air.
Lightweight composite rear hatch with integrated parachute housing.
Massive adjustable rear wing spanning 2 meters mounted on tall struts.
Forward fins on arch flares to funnel airflow efficiently.
Left-center positioned NACA scoop on hood for optimized air intake.
Flush-mounted parachute housing integrated into rear hatch.
Adjustable Gurney flap style rear wing for high downforce at speed.
Aerodynamics focus on functional downforce and airflow management. Forward-facing fins on the arch flares channel air efficiently around the widened body. The carbon fiber hood’s integrated NACA scoop provides direct ram air to the supercharger. The rear features a massive 2-meter wide adjustable Gurney flap wing mounted on tall struts, generating substantial downforce at high speeds. A flush-mounted parachute housing in the rear hatch ensures safe deceleration without disrupting airflow.
Front wheels: Weld Racing 18x9 with +20 offset.
Front tires: 275/40R18 slick radials optimized for launch grip.
Rear wheels: Weld Racing 18x15 with zero offset.
Rear tires: 335/50-18 drag slicks engineered for maximum traction.
Front wheels are Weld Racing 18x9 with a +20 offset, wrapped in 275/40R18 slick radial tires designed for optimal grip and steering precision. Rear wheels measure 18x15 with zero offset, fitted with 335/50-18 drag slicks engineered to maximize traction and withstand the rigors of high torque launches.
The stance is razor low with a 60mm drop front and rear, achieved through custom drag shock absorbers and suspension tuning. This low ride height combined with the extreme widebody setup creates a planted, aggressive posture essential for drag racing performance.
3.5L twin-turbocharged V6 engine.
1200 horsepower output enhanced by methanol injection for cooling and power.
Supercharger fed by hood-mounted NACA scoop for efficient ram air induction.
The heart of the build is a highly tuned 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 producing an impressive 1200 horsepower. Methanol injection is employed for aggressive cooling and detonation control, enabling consistent high-power runs. The supercharger induction is optimized via a left-center positioned NACA scoop on the carbon fiber cowl hood, ensuring dense ram air delivery at launch and high speeds.
The drivetrain is engineered for dragstrip dominance, featuring reinforced components to handle the immense torque output. Rear suspension employs ladder bars and drag-specific shock absorbers to maximize traction and stability during launches. The wide rear track and massive drag slicks work in tandem to transfer power effectively to the pavement.
Widebody panels custom fabricated to achieve extreme track widths while maintaining structural integrity.
Carbon fiber hood and rear hatch components designed for weight reduction and aerodynamic efficiency.
Parachute housing integrated seamlessly into rear hatch composite for functional safety without aerodynamic penalty.
Suspension modifications include drag-specific shocks and ladder bars to handle high torque and maintain stability.
