Cyber Shuttle

Series Mom Cars
Category Concept
Platform 1992 Toyota Previa
Era 1990s JDM Golden Era

The Cyber Shuttle radically reimagines the 1992 Toyota Previa as an autonomous urban transit pod, blending retro JDM heritage with futuristic cyberpunk design. Its widebody shell extends 180mm per corner, featuring sharply pleated, origami-inspired panels that optimize sensor array placement and channel directional airflow. A translucent smart glass hood canopy replaces the traditional hood, embedding active cooling vents that manage thermal loads from the electric drivetrain beneath. At the rear, a seamless one-touch sliding hatch integrates a wide V-shaped empennage scoop to dissipate heat from the dual electric motors. Instead of a fixed spoiler, active airflow fins deploy dynamically from the rear arches, enhancing aerodynamic stability in dense metropolitan corridors. The stance is lifted 40mm for urban clearance, with a 2020mm track at both ends, perfectly balancing agility and presence on neon-lit, rain-slicked streets.

Technical Dossier // R017

Track

The shuttle’s track is widened to 2020mm front and rear, providing enhanced lateral stability necessary for quick directional changes in urban traffic. Raised by 40mm, the increased ground clearance allows for smooth negotiation of typical city obstacles without compromising the vehicle’s aggressive stance.

Body Modifications

Widebody extension +180mm per corner with sharply pleated angular panels
Translucent smart glass hood canopy with embedded active cooling vents
Seamless one-touch sliding rear hatch with integrated V-shaped empennage scoop
Raised ride height by 40mm for urban clearance with a 2020mm track front and rear

Aero Components

Origami-inspired directional airflow panels optimizing sensor shielding
Active airflow fins deploying dynamically from rear wheel arches
V-shaped empennage scoop integrated into rear hatch for heat dissipation
Absence of traditional spoiler replaced by adaptive aero elements

Aero

Aerodynamics in the Cyber Shuttle are approached as a full development study, with origami-inspired pleated panels directing airflow efficiently around sensor arrays and cooling components. Active fins dynamically deploy from rear arches to modulate downforce and stability, replacing traditional spoilers. The rear V-shaped empennage scoop channels heat away from the electric motors, integrating thermal management with aerodynamic function.

Wheel and Tire Setup

20x9.5-inch wheels with Yokohama Advan A052 style slicks
Intelligent hub motors integrated within wheels for full torque vectoring
Wheels sized to balance urban clearance and aggressive stance
Tires optimized for wet grip in dynamic metropolitan environments

Wheels

Custom 20x9.5-inch wheels equipped with Yokohama Advan A052 style slick tires deliver high grip on wet urban surfaces. The intelligent hub motor integration within the wheels allows precise torque delivery and dynamic handling adjustments, crucial for a vehicle operating in variable metropolitan conditions.

Stance

The Cyber Shuttle’s stance balances aggressive widebody proportions with practical urban clearance. Raised 40mm from stock height, the vehicle maintains a planted feel through its broad 2020mm track, while the sharply pleated body panels emphasize its technical and futuristic presence without sacrificing maneuverability.

Powertrain Concept

Dual in-wheel electric hub motors with independent torque vectoring
Active thermal management integrated through smart glass hood vents
Battery pack optimized for compact urban shuttle range and quick recharge
Electric drivetrain designed for smooth, silent autonomous operation

Engine

The Cyber Shuttle foregoes a traditional combustion engine, instead utilizing dual electric hub motors integrated directly into the wheels. This configuration allows for efficient packaging, precise torque vectoring, and silent operation, aligning with its autonomous transit role. Thermal loads are managed through active cooling vents embedded in the smart glass hood canopy, ensuring consistent performance during dense urban use.

Drivetrain

An all-electric drivetrain with independent torque vectoring across the 20-inch hub motors enables responsive handling and agility in confined city corridors. The elimination of mechanical drivetrain components simplifies packaging and reduces weight, while regenerative braking and battery management systems sustain range and efficiency.

Fabrication Notes

Precision CNC folding techniques used to achieve sharply pleated body panels
Structural reinforcement integrated within widebody extensions for rigidity
Custom sliding rear hatch mechanism engineered for seamless one-touch operation
Smart glass hood fabricated with embedded active cooling vent arrays
